Tell mother that the ice-box is on fire and the dish-a-majig's sprung a leak! If your cookhouse is on the fritz this utility leads you to appropriate modern replacements and even estimates how much it'll lighten your wallet.
This is not your Grandma's kitchen… even though it may look like it. For this interactive we built a practical set and shot all the appliances utilizing Canon DSLR's. The footage was then brought into After Effects to remove rigs/wires, build the scene, and create the transitions. All the pieces were then reassembled in Flash to create this very unique user experience.
The Challenge
The US government was offering a rebate program to anyone upgrading their existing appliances with energy efficient replacements. Ikea needed an engaging way to promote this program and their products.
The Solution
We translated the rebate program into a whimsical tool kit that allows home owners to visualize how their kitchen could be re-born. By swapping out their broken or inefficient kitchen appliances with Ikea products, they can create a shareable shopping list. The kitchen was built as an actual set and the effects were shot practically.
The Success
Unfortunately the rebate program was left unfunded, and our project never saw the sparkle of a new counter top.
